Sometime last month, team Lully Selb made a short trip to explore the city of bikers - Ho Chi Minh. 3 days research at the fabric market, accessories market, printing factories while squeezing some time to check out the city.
Apart from looking at whats new at the markets, we specifically wanted to find cooling, crinkle free fabrics to kick start our essentials. With rows and rows of fabric shops and bikers all over, it was rather challenging to pick up what we like. Especially when it comes to colours!! See - even the shade of nude pink gave us a huge headache pinning down the right one! This was choosing our zipper tunic essential, have you check it out?
One of the highlight was visiting where out shawls are digitally printed. We did a few new developments with new fabrics! Best present is this pantone colour chart!! With this chart, we can be sure to design the right shade of colour we want, especially when we have experienced sending over our graphics and the colours came out yucky!
We also managed to drop by a silk screen studio. Do you know that silk screen printing is an art on its own? Check out ktandpaul, one of my favourite silk screen printing artists!! One day Lully Selb shall have our own studio, Insh'Allah!
This silk screen workshop was very deep in and while walking we were busy with our phones taking #ootd! The alleys and streets just got a certain charm, every gate and wall was so interesting full of textures! Thats Lully and me, and yes thats my good buddy Mukminah. Of course, whats a complete trip without indulging in local food. Surprisingly I love vietnamese food!!
Last few hours before we headed to the airport, we walked around the streets and saw some really lovely cute boutiques. Who would have thought that Ho Chi Minh has these designer kinda shops. I wished I could bring these back=(
I would definitely recommend anyone to go HCM for a short weekend getaway. Despite the crazy bikers, this city has hidden gems especially for cafe lovers!
